Four of comedy's biggest names come together one final time on the Blue Collar Comedy Tour- One For The Road soundtrack, to be released today by Warner Bros./Jack Records. Bill Engvall, Jeff Foxworthy, Larry The Cable Guy, and Ron White recorded the material during a series of March 2006 concerts at Washington, D.C.'s Warner Theatre, marking the end of one of the most successful tours in history. Since the foursome began performing together in 2000, the tour has sold out in over 90 cities and grossed over $15 million. The Blue Collar Comedy Tour phenomenon has also spawned successful ventures in radio, television, film, books, and merchandise.
Blue Collar Comedy Tour-One For The Road premiered on Comedy Central Sunday night, and is to be released on Paramount Home Video June 27. The film's stars will also appear on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno tonight to promote the CD and DVD release. The two previous films in the series, Blue Collar Comedy Tour: The Movie and Blue Collar Comedy Tour Rides Again, have sold a combined total of more than 7 million DVDs and 1 million soundtrack CDs. In addition, the Comedy Central premiere of Blue Collar Comedy Tour: The Movie became the network's highest rated movie in history-until Blue Collar Comedy Tour Rides Again broke that record when it premiered with over 6.2 million viewers.
Initially fueled by the star power of established comedians Bill Engvall and Jeff Foxworthy, Blue Collar Comedy Tour also launched relative newcomers Larry The Cable Guy and Ron White to fame. In 1996, Engvall released his debut album, Here's Your Sign, which held the #1 spot on the Billboard Comedy Chart for 15 straight weeks, and has been RIAA Certified Platinum. Engvall has since released 6 more albums, including Dorkfish, Now That's Awesome, and Cheap Drunk: An Autobiography, all of which have reached #1 on the Billboard Comedy Chart. Engvall will host a new CMT series, Country Fried Home Video, debuting June 30, 2006 and his third book, Bill Engvall-I'm Just A Guy, will hit shelves in 2007. Later this summer, Engvall will begin filming the motion picture Delta Farce co-starring Larry The Cable Guy.
As the top-selling comedy recording artist of all time, Jeff Foxworthy has conquered virtually every media outlet in the last decade. Since the 1993 release of his debut album, You Might Be A Redneck If..., which has been RIAA Certified Triple Platinum, Foxworthy has sold more than 13 million comedy albums worldwide and been nominated for four Grammy Awards. In September 2006, Jeff will begin starring in Foxworthy's Big Night Out on CMT. Currently, Jeff hosts The Foxworthy Countdown, for which he received a 2001 CMA Award Nomination for Broadcast Personality of the Year. In addition, he has authored 11 bestselling books, including his most recent, Redneck Dictionary.
Larry The Cable Guy was most recently seen on the big screen in Larry The Cable Guy: Health Inspector, released in theaters March 24, 2006, and will make his voiceover debut in the Pixar feature film, Cars, which is coming to theaters nationwide this Friday. Prior to his foray into film, Larry The Cable Guy was the world's #1 selling comedian in 2005. His most recent album, The Right To Bare Arms, was the only comedy album ever to debut at #1 on the Billboard Country Chart. His previous album, Lord, I Apologize, held the #1 spot on Billboard's Comedy Chart for 14 weeks, and is RIAA Certified Gold. Larry's book, Git-R-Done, debuted at #26 on the New York Times Bestseller list in October 2005.
Ron White's latest project, You Can't Fix Stupid, was released February 7, 2006 and debuted at #1 on the Billboard Comedy Chart and #2 on the Billboard Country Chart. His Comedy Central special of the same name aired for an audience of 4.5 million, making it that night's #1 prime time show on basic cable. Ron's prior release, They Call Me Tater Salad, came out on DVD in June 2004 and has been RIAA Certified Platinum. A fantastic live performer, Ron's 2004 Drunk In Public tour ranked among the year's top 50 tours in Pollstar Magazine, and his 2003 album of the same name also reached #1 on the Billboard Comedy Chart. In addition, Penguin will release Ron's first book, Ron 'Tater Salad' White: I Had The Right To Remain Silent...But I Didn't Have The Ability this month.
